Beauty and sustainability without compromise

Our speciality is building exceptionally beautiful energy efficient homes.

We're a small privately owned construction company in Christchurch, New Zealand with a 30-year history of excellence in craftsmanship. From Superhomes, and Passive Houses, to architectural and standard residential, we believe every home can be made to be more efficient, healthier for the families, and better for the environment.

We offer a complete design and build solution for energy efficient homes, from high-end architectural projects to standard residential, light-commercial, and energy-efficient renovations.

We also do small projects, from extensions and sheds, to bathroom renovations and pizza ovens! From the start of your idea, to the first night in your new home, we are dedicated to making the process easier.

Homes that protect our environment

The health of our families, and our planet depends on the decisions we make today.

Our aim is to build homes that will protect the health of the occupants, are climate safe, and are resilient to last for generations. We know that every home can be more energy-efficient, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the construction, and requiring less energy to maintain over the life of the building.

To overcome climate challenges, and lead by example, we are fostering a culture of continuous improvement in our team, and in our industry. Since 2015 we are active participants of the Superhome Movement. We are sharing knowledge with our industry and lobbying for improved building standards.

We’re committed to being Climate Positive

We have a mission to create a company that is climate positive by reducing our emissions and contributing to restoring biodiversity to help draw down greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere.

Climate change and loss of biodiversity are the most serious issue of our time. Buildings are major drivers of greenhouse gas emissions and the materials and processes to create them is responsible for 38% of global energy-related CO2 emissions.

While the initial emissions to construct a home are high, running the home can emit that same amount every six years. In other words, running a home has a far bigger impact on emissions. This is why it’s important to build as efficiently as possible, to reduce energy input, and emissions for the life of the home.

We are working in partnership with our designers, suppliers, and clients, to create homes and communities that improve, rather than diminish, the resilience of the natural world.

As a company, we are acting now to fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to drawdown of greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere through restoring biodiversity. In 2020 and 2021 we funded land, native plants, irrigation, and staff time to plant and build a native reserve here in Canterbury. We are committed to adding 800 natives each year, to help restore native biodiversity in New Zealand and help draw CO2 from the atmosphere. This is mission drawdown.

Our actions to address climate change…

We are committed to:

  • Reducing emissions in our vehicle fleet.

  • Prioritising locally made materials, and considering energy used and emissions that result from transportation.

  • Creating buildings of a superior quality and performance, to meet the challenges of a low carbon future.

  • Cutting down on waste, considering the life cycle of every material we use, aiming to reduce waste that goes to landfill now and into the future.

  • Openly sharing knowledge and research with others in the industry.

  • Constructing buildings that require minimal energy input to maintain a satisfactory internal living environment.

  • Advocating for faster change in our industry towards an improved standard of construction and more regenerative construction practices.

  • Setting targets for our greenhouse gas emissions and measuring our performance to help us achieve a climate positive company.

  • Collaborating with professionals and policy makers within our industry to work towards improved environmental outcomes.

  • Prioritising sustainable suppliers who are accountable with details around their policies and targets for emissions, waste reduction, transport planning and raw material reduction.

  • Embracing the shift to low embodied carbon materials, and prioritising materials with minimal environmental impact more broadly.
